Whenever Google release a new version of Android, in this case the 7.0, the kick-off is given for all brands to announce which phones will be upgraded to Android Nougat. And as often happens on previous occasions, comes the disappointment when you see that your smartphone will not be updated, or you see that the update comes too late, or you may have the opportunity to update your phone and during the process you crash your Android Operating System.

However, there may always be a doubt about the benefits of Android 7.0 over the previous operating system, and if it really worth it. The truth is that with each new operating system not only come functional and aesthetic improvements, but also at a security level, so upgrading to Android 7.0 is quite convenient. What are the new features of Android Nougat?
Many and very demanded by users. The first and most striking is the inclusion of the first multiventana in Android stock, something necessary given the increase in screen size we have seen in recent years, with the 5.5 inches increasingly widespread in all Segments.

The arrival of virtual reality does not go unnoticed by the new Android operating system, and this will include a series of features that will optimize the performance of the smartphone in conjunction with Daydream VR, the latest virtual reality glasses from Google. Also included is compatibility with Vulkan, an API that will allow better optimization of games and applications that require high graphics performance. There are also improvements in the level of optimization and management of available resources, with a twist to the Doze battery saving system, so that now the system will save energy from the moment we turn off the screen.

Security in Android Nougat devices: Of course, security in Android 7.0 Nougat is also enhanced by a redesign of your encryption system to more effectively protect our data, so that, for an example, ransonware will not be able to modify our password In case we have established one to block our phone. We also have the possibility of automatic updates running in the background, see the source of the application installation, the direct boot, which allows a much faster start of the smartphone, or instant apps, applications that can be executed without Need to be installed in our terminal.

Now let take a look at which phones will receive Android 7.0: All these features seem enough reasons for brands to make an effort to upgrade a smartphone to Android 7.0. Most manufacturers like Tecno, Infinix, Samsung, LG or Huawei have focused on covering their most iconic models, leaving behind the entry-level models or devices prior to 2016. This is not the case for BQ. (Bq_aquaris_x5_plus_1

BQ has announced the list of phones that will receive Android Nougat, where we have been able to see pleasant surprises. As we said, if we talk about the entry range, there is virtually no update ads from any manufacturer, so the Aquaris A4.5 and the three models of the new range Aquaris U will be the first mobile of less than 150 € to receive Android 7.0.

If we go a step above, we find that the Aquaris X5 and the Aquaris X5 Plus will also feature Android Nougat, but not only the latest developments in BQ will feature this new system, as both the Aquaris M5 and the Aquaris M5.5 (2015 models) receive this update. Of course, their rivals are also looking to offer the latest flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S7, Huawei P9 or the LG G5 will also feature the upgrade to Android 7.0. The differences we see in the most affordable ranges.

While in the mid-range there are brands that make more effort like Motorola with its Moto G4, Huawei P9 Lite, or Samsung Galaxy A, we see as other models as important as the Samsung Galaxy J3, LG K10, or the Huawei P8 Lite Will not receive the new Android 7.0.

With this we see how there are brands that really care about giving a long life to each model belonging to its product range, while others forget to cover some segments. What is clear is that the update to Android Nougat should be a determining factor when choosing a smartphone today.

Here are some of the Features we should all look into.

1. A proper clear-all. It's a tad hidden, but Google now includes a clear-all button to close all open apps with a tap. Scroll to the top of the preview cards, where you'll find the new button. The features also available on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

2. Data Saver that will save your data plan. Data Saver is a handy feature you can use when running low on the monthly data allotment for your wireless plan. When enabled, Data Saver will prevent apps from using cellular data in the background. Meaning, Twitter, Google plus and Facebook may not refresh in the background very often, if at all. However, if there's an app or six you want to grant permission to keep using data when Data Saver is enabled, you can do just that.

Go to the Settings app, tap on
Data usage > Data Saver to enable the new feature and tailor which apps are allowed to ignore the setting.

3. Reply to messages from anywhere
When you receive a new message in apps like Whatsapp, Hangouts, Messages or Facebook Messenger, you will see a new reply option at the bottom of the alert. Tap on it, type your message, and go on about your business without ever leaving the current screen.
Better yet, your replies are added to the notification so you can keep the conversation going. The features also available on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

4. Bundled Notifications. Instead of presenting multiple notifications from the same app as individual alerts, Android Nougat now groups them on a single line.
You can swipe down on a single notification to view more details and interact with each individual alert. The features also available on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

5. Manage notifications. With a long-press on a notification, you can opt to disable or silence alerts for the respective app. This is a far better method than having to dive into a random settings menu. The features also available on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

6. A new Settings app. The Settings app received a facelift. The top of the page will offer suggestions and toggles for items you may want to setup or disable. You can now slide out a Settings menu from the left side of the display to jump between different categories with minimal effort.

7. Quick app switching. Double-tap on the multitasking button to quickly switch between the last two apps you used. It's quick and painless.
I've found this most useful when copying information from one app to another when I want to see both apps at full size.

8. Multiwindow. Android now supports viewing two apps at the same time; even on phones. A long-press on the multitasking button will shrink down the app you are currently using, and give you the option to pick from another app that's open in the background. Alternatively, press the home button to pick an app from the home screen or app drawer.
Adjust the size of each app by dragging the handle in the middle of the screen.
The features also available on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

9. Quick Settings toggles. Slide down the notification shade and you will find six settings icons at the top of the screen. Tap on the icon to toggle the current status of the setting, or long-press on it for more options.

10. Settings tiles. A second swipe down on the screen when notifications and quick settings are present will reveal a series of Quick Settings Tiles. These tiles act in a similar fashion to the smaller version from the previous slide, with a tap toggling the corresponding service or setting and a long-press providing more options.
Tap on the Pencil button near the top of the screen to rearrange, delete or add new tiles. Notice you can have multiple pages of tiles with swipe left or right.
The features also available on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

11. Display size. Not only can you adjust the font size used by your Android device, but Nougat adds a Display Size feature that adjusts everything on display.
Open Settings > Display >
Display Size then use the slider.

12. Everyone gets a GIF. Who doesn't like those animated images called GIFs?
As Android Nougat 7.1.1, Google's keyboard app includes a GIF keyboard by default.
When composing a message in the Messages or Facebook Messenger app, tap on the emoji icon then the GIF button. Browse, search and pick the perfect image and send away.

13. Easy on the eyes. Night Light mode on Android Nougat turns your display an amber color. The jury is still out regarding whether or not the feature helps you fall asleep easier, but one thing is certain, it does cause less eye strain in dimly lit environments.
Open Settings > Display > Night Light to enable the feature.
Depending on customizations made by the manufacturer of your phone, you should have options ranging from manually enabling it to setting Night Light automatically turn on from sunset to sunrise using your location. Another name used by device makers is Night Mode.

14. Set a lock screen wallpaper
Most Android manufacturers had this feature long ago, but Google has finally added the ability to set one image as a lock screen wallpaper, and another as your homescreen wallpaper.
Long-press on your homescreen, select Wallpaper, pick an image, and then set where you want it to be used. The features also available on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
